JobBOSS² vs Fulcrum
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
The practical difference is accounting and deployment. JobBOSS² has built-in accounting and also syncs with QuickBooks Desktop or Online. It comes as multi-tenant cloud, private hosted cloud or on-premise, and ECI quotes a 3–6 month implementation. Fulcrum is cloud-only and connects to your existing accounting rather than replacing it. It charges by your revenue and integrations instead of per user, and has a fixed launch fee and an in-house launch team. Choose JobBOSS² if you want one system for the books, a long track record, or software on your own server. Choose Fulcrum if you want modern scheduling and fab tools and unlimited users.

| JobBOSS² | Fulcrum | |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | No list price; pricing is tailored to the shop's scale and the functionality it needs | Not priced per user; price depends on the shop's gross revenue and the number and complexity of integrations; ask sales |
| Implementation | Implementation takes around 3–6 months | Fixed, one-time launch fee; in-house launch team migrates data and trains, no billable hours |
| Deployment | Three deployment options in the US: multi-tenant SaaS cloud, private hosted cloud, or on-premise | Cloud |
| Accounting | Built-in accounting; integrates with quickbooks desktop and online for invoices, payroll and ap/ar | Fulcrum connects to an accounting system instead of building its own |
| Quoting | Rate-based estimating: pre-set burden and labor rates, quantity breaks, setup and run time, outside services and commission; quotes created from estimates in one click and converted to orders | Quotes built from imported or drawn BOMs and routings; costs update from labor, material and machine details; DXF nesting on the quote |
| Lead times | Quoting with visibility into the shop's capacity for realistic lead times | Lead times on quotes come from Autoschedule's estimated completion dates |
| Drawings to BOM | AI BOM Builder drafts BOMs from PDFs, Excel files, images and CSVs | Reads image files, PDFs, CSVs or XLSX files to create a bill of materials; BOM lines can be imported during the quote or sales order workflow |
| Add-ons and API | ECI MES, ECI Payments and Commerce Suite, KnowledgeSync alerts and uniPoint quality integrate with JobBOSS² | Open API; Fulcrum says nearly all customers use it, usually with its launch team and developers; integrations are configured, not plug-and-play |
Read the vendors' comparison pages carefully
ECI runs a JobBOSS² vs Fulcrum page. It says JobBOSS² has a job-shop focus, a full quality module, built-in accounting and 30+ years of experience, and that Fulcrum has "no built-in financial option". The accounting point is accurate as far as it goes, since Fulcrum says it doesn't rebuild accounting and connects to yours. Whether that is a weakness depends on whether you want to leave QuickBooks. The page also quotes one Fulcrum user unhappy with editing jobs and with the Paperless Parts integration. A single quote on a competitor's page is marketing, not evidence.
Fulcrum, for its part, runs pages aimed at users of other ERPs that describe legacy systems as clunky with "extra fees for every feature". Treat both the same way: turn each claim into a demo question on your own data.
- Have each vendor schedule a hot job into a full week and show what moves.
- Edit a released job's routing on the fly and watch what happens to costing.
- Show a quote with 3 quantity breaks and an outside process, from RFQ to invoice.
- Show the accounting handoff with your real chart of accounts.
Pick JobBOSS² if
You want accounting inside the ERP, or a QuickBooks sync supported by the ERP vendor. Pick it too if you need an on-premise or private-hosted option, or you value a large installed base. ECI says more than 5,000 shops run it, which means more people who already know it and more consultants. Budget for a 3–6 month implementation.
Pick Fulcrum if
You want every operator in the system without paying per seat, scheduling that replans itself from live data, and DXF nesting on quotes for sheet work. Its fixed launch fee makes the implementation budget predictable. Plan on keeping a separate accounting system.
If faster quotes are why you're shopping, a quoting tool may get you there without changing the ERP. QuotedPart reads STEP and PDF files and prices every quantity at your rates for $199/month per shop, billed monthly. It works with JobBOSS²: Send to JobBOSS² creates the estimates, routing and quote through ECI's API. For Fulcrum it offers CSV or Excel export only.
