Quoting software that sends quotes to JobBOSS² and JobBOSS
The quote you made in QuotedPart goes into JobBOSS with its prices, routing and material, so nobody types it in twice. When the customer orders, you win the quote in JobBOSS and make the order and job there as usual.
- JobBOSS² (cloud): Send to JobBOSS² on the quote's ⋯ menu.
- JobBOSS on your own server: Export for JobBOSS on the quote's ⋯ menu.
JobBOSS²
What it creates in JobBOSS²
- An estimate for each part
- Part number, revision and description; up to 8 quantity breaks with your quoted unit price on each (prices locked, so JobBOSS² doesn't recalculate them); lead time; the customer.
- The routing on that estimate
- One step per operation, numbered 10, 20, 30: inside steps at the JobBOSS² work center you picked, with setup and run time per piece from the QuotedPart estimate; finishes and bought-in services as outside steps at the vendor you picked.
- The material
- Optional: the JobBOSS² part number of the raw material with QuotedPart's material cost per part.
- A quote
- For the JobBOSS² customer you picked, with the contact, expiry date, one line per part with every quantity break and price, and a note pointing back to the QuotedPart quote.
Set up once
- Ask your ECI account manager to switch on the JobBOSS² API for your company and create an API user for QuotedPart. ECI gives you a client ID and a client secret.
- In QuotedPart, open a quote, choose Send to JobBOSS² and paste the client ID and secret.
- Pick the JobBOSS² customer, and once per work center and finish, where it runs in JobBOSS²: a work center or an outside vendor. QuotedPart suggests matches by name and remembers your picks for the next quote.
- Check the list of what will be created, then choose Create in JobBOSS².
Your JobBOSS² login stays with you
The client ID and secret are kept in your browser and sent only to ECI. Your browser talks to ECI's JobBOSS² API directly; QuotedPart's servers never receive or store your JobBOSS² credentials. QuotedPart saves only your mapping (which work center and vendor codes to use) and the JobBOSS² quote number of each send. Each computer asks for the credentials once; Disconnect this browser removes them.
Good to know
- It runs through ECI's JobBOSS² API, which ECI switches on for your company. ECI supports the API for JobBOSS² hosted (cloud) customers; your ECI account manager can confirm it for your installation.
- Customers, work centers and vendors must already exist in JobBOSS²; QuotedPart picks from them and doesn't create new ones.
- When an estimate with the same part number is already in JobBOSS², it's left as it is and only added to the quote; QuotedPart doesn't change your existing routings.
- Assemblies go over as one part without components or routing. ITAR vault parts are never sent.
- Run time per piece on each step is QuotedPart's base estimate; the lower per-piece times QuotedPart uses at larger quantities are already in the locked prices, not in the routing.
- The quote's currency must match your JobBOSS² company currency.
- One-way: changes made in JobBOSS² don't come back to QuotedPart.
JobBOSS on your own server
For JobBOSS installed at your shop (the version before JobBOSS²). On a quote, open the ⋯ menu and choose Export for JobBOSS. QuotedPart downloads a small file that creates the quote in your JobBOSS database. You run it once, and the quote is in JobBOSS under Quotes.
What it creates in JobBOSS
- The quote
- With JobBOSS's next quote number, for your JobBOSS customer and contact, with the expiry date and a reference back to the QuotedPart quote.
- A line per part
- Part number, revision, description and lead time; every quantity with your quoted unit price and total.
- The routing on each line
- One operation per QuotedPart operation, in order: inside operations at your JobBOSS work center with setup hours and run minutes per part, priced at that work center's rates; outside services at your vendor with their cost; finishes at your vendor.
- The material
- Your JobBOSS material with QuotedPart's cost per part, or a misc line with the material name when you don't give a Material ID.
How to send a quote
- On the quote, choose ⋯ then Export for JobBOSS. Enter the JobBOSS codes for the customer, your work centers and vendors, or leave them empty and the file finds them in JobBOSS by name. QuotedPart remembers them for the next quote.
- Choose Download for JobBOSS.
- Open the file in SQL Server Management Studio on the JobBOSS server or any computer that reaches it, pick your JobBOSS database in the list at the top and click Execute. The Messages tab shows the new JobBOSS quote number.
SQL Server Management Studio is Microsoft's free tool for SQL Server, where JobBOSS keeps its data. Sign in with the Windows or SQL Server login that can change the JobBOSS database; whoever installed JobBOSS for you has it. That's the only setup, and we're glad to do the first quote with you on a short call.
Good to know
- The file checks everything before it saves: that it's the JobBOSS database, and that the customer, work centers, vendors and material are in your JobBOSS. If something doesn't match, nothing is saved; the Messages tab says what to fix and the Results tab lists your JobBOSS codes.
- Everything is saved in one go, so a quote never lands half-made.
- Each quote goes in once: running the same file again is refused, and a revision in QuotedPart makes a new file.
- To check without saving, change @CheckOnly at the top of the file to 1.
- The file holds this one quote and nothing else. QuotedPart never connects to your server.
- ITAR vault parts are never in the file.
- One-way: changes made in JobBOSS don't come back to QuotedPart.
