Which quoting software can handle ITAR drawings?

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

There is no ITAR certificate you can buy with a quoting subscription. The practical question is where the drawing is stored, who can access it, and whether the shop can meet its own export-control obligations. Paperless Parts says it is ITAR registered and hosted on AWS US GovCloud; Machine Research says it offers ITAR secure storage; CloudNC describes enhanced security as an Enterprise option. Those are vendor statements checked October 30, 2026, not a determination that any shop is compliant. QuotedPart’s boundary is an optional ITAR vault for ITAR parts; it makes no certification claim.

Separate a product statement from your compliance work

Start by writing the data flow for one real RFQ. Identify the uploader, the storage region, the people who can open the file, exports to email or ERP, backups, and deletion. Then ask a vendor to map each step to its security documentation. “ITAR registered,” “hosted on AWS US GovCloud,” and “ITAR secure storage” are different statements. None of them replaces registration, a technology-control plan, access reviews, incident handling, or the other obligations that sit with the exporter.

Use a non-controlled sample for the first workflow test. Confirm whether the tool creates thumbnails, browser caches, PDF attachments, analytics events, or support copies. Ask whether a user can download a drawing to a personal device and whether an administrator can restrict that path. A shop that cannot explain those boundaries should pause before uploading a controlled drawing, even if the landing page uses the word ITAR.

  • Ask for the exact security page and the date of the vendor’s statement.
  • Document every export from the quote, including email, ERP, CSV, and support tickets.
  • Have the shop’s export-control owner approve the workflow before controlled data enters it.

What the vendors actually say

The table keeps marketing language and certifications apart. Paperless Parts is the strongest fit on the public security language reviewed: its site names ITAR registration, AWS US GovCloud, and a design for manufacturers pursuing CMMC Level 2. Machine Research is stronger when a shop wants a broad CAD estimating workflow and a page that explicitly lists ITAR secure storage. CloudNC is more cautious in the public material checked: its Enterprise tier mentions enhanced security, but the page does not establish an ITAR boundary. QuotedPart can help price a controlled part inside its ITAR vault, but the product does not claim certification.

These differences matter most when a prime contractor specifies a hosting boundary or requires evidence in a supplier questionnaire. A vendor’s own wording is useful evidence for a procurement file; it is not permission to send every drawing to the cloud. Get the contract, data-processing terms, retention behavior, and support-access process in writing.

A defensible shop test

Before selecting a tool, run a three-file test: a harmless STEP model, a drawing with a deliberately restricted note, and a redacted customer PDF. Record who can view each file, what appears in a quote PDF, and which integrations can receive it. Repeat the test after removing a user. The result should be a short control sheet that names the approved plan, storage region, user list, export path, retention period, and owner for quarterly review.

QuotedPart is useful when the shop wants to apply its own rates and keep the controlled part inside the ITAR vault boundary. Paperless Parts is stronger on the breadth of public security language. Machine Research may be stronger for a shop that needs its CAD and drawing intake in one estimating workflow. CloudNC may be worth a controlled Enterprise conversation, but the public page alone does not prove an ITAR workflow. Choose the product whose documented boundary your compliance owner can accept, then test the exact path before live use.

Sources and limits

Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
