Email RFQ intake for machine shops
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
Each shop gets an RFQ email address in Settings. Forward a buyer's email or have the buyer send it there: QuotedPart keeps the original sender, reads the request and attachments, and opens a draft quote with quantities, materials, finishes, dates and notes.
What the intake reads
The email reader extracts the buyer and company, RFQ reference, quote due date, needed-by date, order type, rush, turnaround, quantities, material, finish, certifications, shipping terms and pricing instructions. It reads the first 30,000 characters. A STEP, IGES or DXF model and PDF drawing can be paired by part name; models are measured when the quote is opened and drawings are read when the email arrives.
A shop's own trusted sender can have pricing instructions applied by its rules. A customer's discount or target price is held for an estimator to apply, so a buyer cannot set your price by email. Everything read is shown on the quote for checking and editing.
Ways RFQs arrive
Use the shop's forwarding address, the public RFQ form embedded on your website, or drag and drop an RFQ into the app. The website form accepts the same CAD and drawing inputs and sends the event to your quote workflow. Gmail and Outlook compose links make it easy to send the finished buyer page; inbound intake is the QuotedPart RFQ address, not a claim of direct mailbox scraping.
Controlled files
Before an upload, the browser checks PDF and STEP text for ITAR, EAR and CUI markings and asks before sending a marked file. The optional ITAR vault encrypts models, drawings and technical data in the browser before upload; QuotedPart's normal AI never reads vault parts.
Questions about email rfq intake
- Does forwarding an email send a quote automatically?
- No. It creates a draft with the extracted facts and checks. Your team reviews and sends the quote page or PDF.
- What file formats can an RFQ include?
- STEP, IGES, DXF and PDF are read. Other attachments are kept on the quote but are not measured.
