How do E2 Shop System shops quote faster without leaving E2?

First find out which E2 you run, because the handoff differs. ECI's own JobBOSS² FAQ says "JobBOSS², formerly E2 Shop", shoptech.com now redirects to the JobBOSS² page, and ECI lists E2 MFG "for existing customers" (all checked November 6, 2026). On JobBOSS², QuotedPart's Send to JobBOSS² creates the estimate with its routing and the quote through ECI's API. On an older E2 SHOP or E2 MFG install, QuotedPart exports the won order as CSV or Excel with the routing as setup and run minutes per work center, and someone enters or imports it. Either way E2 keeps the job, schedule and books; QuotedPart only does the drawing-to-price step, at $399/month per shop ($199 for the first 20 shops).

What E2's own estimating does

ECI's JobBOSS² quotes page describes rate-based estimating: pre-set burden and labor rates, quantity breaks, setup and run/cycle times, outside services and sales commission, priced by markup or profit percentage. A quote is created from an estimate in one click, emailed or faxed from the workstation, and converted to sales and work orders on a win, with capacity visibility for lead times and a win-rate view. E2 MFG's page lists estimating alongside accounting, job costing, quality, purchasing, scheduling and shipping, with support for complex multi-level BOMs.

None of those pages mentions reading a drawing, PDF or CAD model. The rates and times are applied by the estimator, who first has to decide what the operations are.

Where E2 shops stall

E2 is fast when the part has been made before: copy the estimate, change the quantity, send. The queue builds on new prints. From an estimator's seat, the hours go into reading the drawing, choosing setups, guessing cycle time and checking a bar or plate price, and in a small shop that's often the owner. Rate tables in the ERP don't remove that step; they only price it once it's done. That's the step to hand to a quoting tool, and only for new parts.

How QuotedPart hands the quote back, by E2 version

QuotedPart reads the PDF drawing for material, finish, tolerances, threads and notes, measures the STEP model, proposes operations at your work centers and rates and prices each quantity break. Your estimator edits and sends a quote page or PDF. What happens next depends on the E2 you run. Note that QuotedPart's Export for JobBOSS writes into classic JobBOSS's database and is not for E2.

Paperless Parts lists ECI's E2 Shop, JobBOSS and JobBOSS² among its live ERP integrations, which is worth comparing if your E2 is on-premise and you want a push rather than a file.

The workflow, step by step

1. Copy your E2 work-center rates and common materials into QuotedPart, so a minute costs the same in both. 2. Send new-part RFQs to QuotedPart: forward them to your QuotedPart address, connect the Gmail or Outlook inbox they land in, or drop the files on a quote. Keep repeat parts in E2. 3. Check the routing, minutes and price breaks, then send the quote. 4a. On JobBOSS²: choose Send to JobBOSS², pick the customer and map each work center and finish once (QuotedPart remembers), and check the list before it creates the estimate and quote. 4b. On E2 SHOP or E2 MFG: when the buyer accepts, export the order and enter the part, routing and order in E2 from the row. 5. Win the quote in E2 and make the job as you do today. 6. On the first jobs, compare E2's actual hours with the quoted minutes and adjust QuotedPart's formulas.

Limits: JobBOSS² API access is ECI's to switch on, and ECI supports it for its hosted (cloud) customers; the send is one-way and doesn't change routings already in JobBOSS². On classic E2 the export is a file, not a sync. QuotedPart has no scheduling, inventory, accounting or job costing.

Questions

Is E2 Shop System the same as JobBOSS²?

ECI's JobBOSS² FAQ calls it "formerly E2 Shop", and shoptech.com redirects to the JobBOSS² page (checked November 6, 2026). ECI still lists E2 MFG for existing customers.

Does QuotedPart integrate with E2 Shop System?

With JobBOSS², yes: Send to JobBOSS² creates the estimate, routing and quote through ECI's API. With an older E2 SHOP or E2 MFG install, QuotedPart exports the won order as CSV or Excel for entry or import.

Does E2 read drawings to build an estimate?

ECI's JobBOSS² quotes page and E2 MFG page, checked November 6, 2026, describe rate-based estimating and don't mention reading drawings or CAD models.

Do I have to stop quoting in E2?

No. Quote repeat parts in E2 from their existing estimates and use QuotedPart for new drawings.
