G-Wizard Estimator alternatives: current availability and a replacement test
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
If you need a G-Wizard Estimator replacement now, first note that CNC Cookbook currently says G-Wizard cannot be purchased, renewed or supported. That live notice takes precedence over older beta and subscription pages. Replace the function you used: feeds and speeds, operation-time estimating, or complete customer quoting. QuotedPart can help with the last task, but it should not be presented as a replacement for every machining calculator or G-code simulator.

Use the current notice rather than historical offers
The G-Wizard availability page was checked October 30, 2026. CNC Cookbook distinguishes Calculator, Editor, Estimator and Thread Calculator. It identifies Estimator as machining-time and job-quoting software. It also offers browser calculators and CutViewer and lists a final Windows Calculator download, while stating that licenses cannot currently be sold or renewed and support is unavailable.
| Old task | Replacement evidence | What a quote tool alone does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Feeds and speeds | Material/tool inputs and usable cutting parameters | A defensible production cutting recipe |
| G-code viewing | Program visualization and supported operations | Collision-safe machine simulation |
| Operation time | Feeds, paths, tool changes and handling | Complete commercial cost |
| Customer quote | Setup, material, operations, finish and margin | That the production method has been proven |
Reconcile one operation before the whole part
Use an illustrative drilling cycle: 12 holes, one inch of cutting travel per hole, 6 in/min feed. Ideal feed time is 12 / 6 = two minutes. Add an assumed four seconds of positioning/retract per hole, or 48 seconds, and 20 seconds for a tool change. The simple cycle estimate becomes three minutes eight seconds. This is a worksheet assumption, not CAM verification or a recommended drilling recipe.
At $100/hour, that cycle costs $5.2222 per part before rounding. A 45-minute setup adds $75 per lot, or $7.50 each at ten pieces and $0.75 at 100. Add stock, other operations, inspection and selling margin separately. A feeds/speeds calculator and a quote estimator answer different portions of this example; keeping them distinct avoids assuming that faster data entry proves a faster machining cycle.
Compare replacements by their published emphasis
KipwareQTE documents material, tooling, labor and non-machining costs and an integration with KipwareCYC for cycle times. Costimator describes feature-based manufacturing cost models and optional solid-model feature recognition. Those are useful candidates when the estimator needs operation-level estimating. QuotedPart instead emphasizes drawing/model intake and editable shop-rate routing within a customer-quote workflow.
Ask each candidate to reproduce an old estimate with the original assumptions visible. The output should preserve units, per-lot setup and per-piece run cost, not merely match an old total. A difference can reflect a corrected method rather than an error; have a machinist explain the route before judging software by the final price.
Migrate the knowledge, not just the number
Save accessible prior estimates, your rate basis, tooling allowances and any local notes needed to reproduce the method. Confirm what export or archive the existing installation actually permits rather than assuming a new service can import its files. CNC Cookbook's free machining reference tools may still be useful alongside a separate quote workflow. Choose a replacement that covers today's need and can be evaluated under its current terms.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
