KipwareQTE alternative: offline costing or shared drawing quotes?
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
QuotedPart is a relevant KipwareQTE alternative when the main need is reading PDF/STEP RFQs and sharing reviewed quotes online. KipwareQTE has a clear advantage if offline use and a one-time license matter: Kentech advertises a lifetime license with two standard seats and no required internet. Its published costing also makes tooling and non-machining work explicit. Do not replace that workflow merely to change the billing model; test whether a new tool preserves those costs.

What Kentech documents today
Kentech's product page, checked October 30, 2026, describes material, tooling, labor and non-machining costs, assembly estimating and quotes at up to six quantities. It says KipwareCYC can supply cycle-time estimates, and KipwareCRM is an optional cost-review addition. It also advertises its included offline KipAssist. Avoid assuming that an older description of the software represents the current offering.
| Area | KipwareQTE | QuotedPart |
|---|---|---|
| Licensing | One-time lifetime license; two seats standard | Monthly shop subscription; unlimited users |
| Connectivity | Advertised to work without internet | Browser application with online quote sharing |
| Estimating emphasis | Material, tooling, labor, assemblies and non-machining costs | PDF/model input and editable operation formulas |
| Time estimates | KipwareCYC integration described | Setup/run assumptions in the quote routing |
| Customer delivery | Formatted quotations at up to six quantities | Branded quote page or PDF; buyer PO acceptance |
Do not lose tooling when changing systems
Use a fictional 200-piece stainless bushing job with $160 of inserts dedicated to the order. That contributes $0.80 per part. Add $60 of drills and taps amortized over the same lot, or $0.30 each. The combined tooling allowance is $220 / 200 = $1.10 per bushing. If tooling is already recovered in the machine rate, identify the overlap before adding it again.
Now reduce the order to 20 pieces. A dedicated tool purchase may still cost $220, producing $11 per part; expected wear might instead scale with cutting time. Require separate treatment for purchased job-specific tooling and ordinary tool consumption. This distinction is a useful acceptance test for either system and is more revealing than comparing only a final selling price.
Compare the complete seat and ownership plan
Ask Kentech for the current checkout amount and which related products your chosen workflow requires. The product page's licensing description does not by itself establish the price of every optional application, upgrade or service. Compare those written amounts with the period you expect to use the system. There is no reliable savings claim without a complete configuration.
For example, a hypothetical $1,800 one-time package and a $199 monthly subscription cross in external cash after about 9.05 months, before updates, setup effort or different scope. The $1,800 is a planning placeholder, not KipwareQTE's price. Offline operation may be worth more to a particular shop than online convenience.
A practical switch test
Rebuild an old quote containing tooling, deburring, outside grinding and three quantities. Compare every cost line and the customer document. QuotedPart's 14-day no-card trial lets a shop test its own drawing workflow, but keep the original estimating records and verify exports before retiring an established tool. Choose KipwareQTE if its offline costing workflow already fits; choose a shared online estimator only when the RFQ and review improvements justify the change.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
