Is QuotedPart a good alternative to CutQuote?
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
For a shop that mostly cuts and bends, CutQuote is probably the better tool. It is built for laser cutting and fabrication, with true-shape nesting on every plan, tube and structural work, DXF and DWG input, and folding, welding and coating in the same quote. QuotedPart is the better fit for a shop that mostly machines and also does some sheet metal. It reads STEP models and PDF prints for milled and turned parts as well as for laser and press-brake work, and costs one flat price however many people quote.

Side by side
CutQuote's column comes from its home and pricing pages, checked October 30, 2026. Prices are in USD, billed monthly. CutQuote says annual billing saves 25%.
| CutQuote | QuotedPart | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Starter $85, Professional $249, Business $425 a month, one user each | $199/month per shop, billed monthly |
| Extra users | Professional +$125/month each (up to 10 users); Business +$213/month each; Starter is one person | Unlimited users, quotes and parts |
| Trial | 14-day trial of Business features, one user, no card; up to 25 STEP parts a month during the trial | 14-day trial, every feature, no card |
| Inputs | DXF, DWG, manual shapes, STEP with unfolding; vector PDF on Professional and Business | STEP/IGES models measured in the browser, DXF flat patterns, PDF drawings read; a part can be priced from the PDF drawing alone |
| Nesting | True-shape nesting on every plan | No nesting: material is priced by blank weight or piece |
| Processes | Laser cutting, sheet metal, tube and structural; folding, welding, coating and machining as secondary operations | CNC milling and turning, sheet metal and plate (laser, waterjet, press brake), finishes and outside services |
| Customer side | Online acceptance on every plan; self-serve portal on Professional; widget and API on Business | Branded quote page where the buyer picks a quantity and accepts with a PO, a PDF, or the shop's own Excel quote format filled in; won quotes become orders |
| Systems | Xero and MYOB on every plan; production scheduling on Business | Send to JobBOSS² (estimates, routing and quote via ECI's API); Export for JobBOSS (on-premise); CSV and Excel export for any other system |
Where CutQuote is stronger
Nesting is the big difference. For laser work, material is often the largest cost, and part area alone doesn't tell you how much of the sheet a job uses. CutQuote nests the real part shapes on your sheet sizes, and QuotedPart doesn't nest at all. CutQuote also handles tube and structural sections and quotes from DXF and DWG files. It has a lower one-person entry price, $85 a month on Starter. On Business it adds production tracking, job cards and scheduling. It comes from Idronic, the team behind LaserQuote and RanFab, so it has a long history with fab shops.
Where QuotedPart fits better
If most of your work is machined, CutQuote treats machining as a secondary operation. QuotedPart measures milled and turned features from the STEP model and builds setup and run time per operation on your own work centers. It reads PDF prints for material, finish, tolerances and notes, and can quote from the drawing alone. CutQuote's PDF import is for vector drawings, and it says to replace them with CAD before cutting. QuotedPart's price stays at $199 whether one person quotes or ten. It sends quotes into JobBOSS² and JobBOSS, where CutQuote connects to Xero and MYOB.
Monthly cost by number of people quoting
The cost table at the end of this page uses each vendor's list price billed monthly. Seat cost matters more than the entry price for a shop where the owner, an estimator and a sales person all quote.
