What are the best ProShop ERP alternatives for a small job shop?

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

The best ProShop alternative depends on what you are trying to replace. If the pain is only slow RFQ arithmetic, a focused quoting tool is a smaller change. If the pain is traceability, inventory, quality, scheduling, and shop-floor records, you need another ERP rather than a prettier quote form. ProShop’s own pricing page says its price is customized to each shop; this guide compares that buying shape with public alternatives checked October 30, 2026 and calls out where ProShop is stronger.

Choose the layer you actually need

ProShop is an ERP, MES, and QMS product for precision shops. Its estimating page describes templates built from labor, material, vendor costs, margin guards, and quantity breaks, and its product pages list shop-floor, scheduling, quality, inventory, and maintenance modules. That breadth is the reason to shortlist it. It is also the reason migration is a business project: the shop has to agree on routings, part revisions, quality records, and ownership of master data before a quote can become a controlled job.

A small shop should write a one-page boundary before taking demos. List the records that must survive: customers, materials, operations, outside services, open quotes, open jobs, and inspection history. Then label each record as required on day one, useful later, or safe to leave in the old system. A quoting-only alternative can replace the first estimate without replacing the last two categories.

  • Use a quoting tool when the main queue is RFQs and the ERP already works.
  • Use an ERP alternative when the main risk is lost production or quality data.
  • Ask every vendor to show the migration path for one real customer and part.

A neutral shortlist

The alternatives below are deliberately different sizes of answer. Fulcrum is a cloud manufacturing ERP whose public page says pricing depends on shop revenue and integration complexity, with unlimited users and a fixed launch fee. JobBOSS² is ECI’s cloud ERP for make-to-order and custom metal manufacturers; ECI says pricing is tailored and implementation takes around three to six months. MRPeasy publishes per-user prices and a free trial, which can make it easier to budget, but a shop must confirm whether its routing, quality, and scheduling depth is enough. QuotedPart is the narrowest option: it applies the shop’s rates to an RFQ and leaves ERP ownership elsewhere.

ProShop remains stronger when the shop wants one system for estimating, production control, quality, and compliance-oriented workflows. Fulcrum is stronger when a shop wants cloud ERP with a launch team and no per-user charge. JobBOSS² is stronger for a shop already aligned with ECI’s job-shop model. MRPeasy is stronger on transparent entry pricing. A focused quoting tool is stronger on a short evaluation path, but it does not replace an ERP.

Run a migration-sized proof

Do not compare these products with a feature-count spreadsheet. Give each vendor the same customer, assembly, revision, material, outside process, and quantity-break example. Ask for the quote, the routing, the purchase requirement, and the inspection record. Time how long it takes to correct a material price and how many screens must change. That test exposes whether the product fits the estimator’s actual day.

Pick ProShop when its controlled end-to-end record is worth the implementation. Pick Fulcrum or JobBOSS² when their ERP scope and deployment model fit the shop’s operating discipline. Pick MRPeasy when a lighter, price-visible system covers the required records. Pick QuotedPart when a separate quoting layer solves the immediate bottleneck and the shop is willing to keep the ERP handoff explicit. Every choice is stronger when the shop writes down the records it will still own manually.
