What does Ti-6Al-4V titanium cost per pound?

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

This example uses $71.70/lb for small-lot Ti-6Al-4V and $28.00/lb as its volume input. They are application assumptions, not a current distributor offer. With those inputs, a one-inch-diameter, four-inch-long titanium pin sells for $89.49 each at ten after machining and 30% markup.

Specify the titanium you are buying

A pound of unspecified titanium is not interchangeable with a certified Ti-6Al-4V bar in the needed condition and diameter. Ask for the grade, specification, condition, cut length, traceability and certificate requirements together. Commercially pure titanium, alloy bar and scrap prices answer different purchasing questions.

The computed per-foot column uses one-inch solid round with density 4.43 g/cm³. It multiplies that cylindrical weight by the entered small-lot rate. There is no saw fee, shipping or supplier minimum in that conversion. We have not independently verified a current stock-size-specific distributor offer, so the table deliberately remains an estimating assumption rather than a dated retail price list.

Expensive stock makes buying rules visible

The pin example starts from 1.125-inch round and finishes at one-inch diameter by four inches long. There are no cross holes, threads, coating or critical fit callouts; general tolerance is ±0.005 inch. Stock purchasing includes the pricing model's standard allowances and minimum lot rules. Its material contribution can therefore differ from a simple finished-volume multiplication.

At one piece, a full minimum cut may leave more value in the remnant than in the shipped part. Record where that drop goes and how its cost is allocated. At production quantity, confirm usable parts per bar after saw kerf and ends. A promised volume rate does not help if the order is too small to consume the required purchase.

The cutting minutes also need a titanium assumption

The catalog uses a 0.15 removal-rate factor relative to 6061 for this alloy. That produces the engine's cutting-time illustration; it is not a cutting-tool manufacturer's recommended speed. Sandvik describes titanium and heat-resistant alloys as a difficult cutting group with heat and tool-life challenges. That supports reviewing the route, not any universal cost multiplier.

Check tool grade, coolant delivery, chip control, surface condition and the available machine before accepting a cycle estimate. A difficult tolerance or finish can change the route independently of material price. If dedicated tooling or process development is required, add an explicit allowance instead of hoping a high material markup will recover it.

The published estimate excludes certificates, special cleanliness, part-specific first article requirements and expedited stock. Quote those deliverables by name. If the buyer wants a less expensive material, route that choice through the design owner; a price comparison alone cannot establish that stainless or aluminum satisfies the original service requirements.
