Agree on the revision’s cost before changing the job
Price one of your own parts: Drop a STEP model or PDF drawing — about 90 seconds, no account.
Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.
Price a drawing change from the work it adds or removes, then record the revised total and date for approval. The filled example adds $400 of programming, setup, material and outside commitments, credits $100 of removed scope and changes a $2,000 order to $2,300. It does not charge already billed work twice.

Freeze the old scope and the affected work
Record the original PO, accepted quote, drawing revision, release quantity, price and delivery basis. Identify the new drawing or instruction and which pieces are already programmed, cut, finished or shipped. The change affects only the agreed population; a revision on the next release may not require scrapping finished work from the current one. Put a hold or safe stopping instruction on affected operations while the authorized people decide the scope, and retain both document revisions.
Price incremental work and legitimate credits
The example adds $120 reprogramming, $180 re-setup, $75 committed material and $25 outside-process commitment. A $100 credit removes work no longer required, leaving a $300 net adjustment. Enter actual commitments and the contract’s agreed treatment rather than assuming every cost is recoverable. If the old order already invoiced a charge, reconcile it before including it again. Reusable stock or tooling may reduce the adjustment. A quantity change or expedite can use the same worksheet but requires its own clear scope and schedule assumptions.
Get approval of price and date together
Approval wording: Change [identifier] replaces [old scope] with [new scope] for [affected quantity/serials]. Net price adjustment is [amount]; revised order total is [total]. Revised [ship/completion] date is [date], subject to [specific conditions]. Authorized buyer [name/date] approves this change and [updated PO/reference]. Have your commercial process and counsel review the wording before use. Do not treat receipt of a new drawing as agreement to a new price, and do not promise the old delivery date until the changed routing has been checked.
