The filled workbook prices ten example assemblies at $155.35 each from 96 weld inches per assembly, fit-up, positioning, material and consumables. It also has separate mobilization and travel fields for site work, set to zero in this shop-built example. Download the internal estimate and use the PDF to prepare a clean customer offer.

Define the assembly before entering inches
Record drawing and revision, material grades, joint preparation, weld size, process, position, number of passes and acceptance requirements. Ninety-six inches of a single small fillet is not equivalent to ninety-six inches of a multipass groove. The workbook accepts a proven travel speed and an arc-on share, while fit-up and separate positioning remain visible additions. The estimator must choose a time basis that does not count the same handling inside both the arc-on factor and an added labor line.
Keep shop work and site work distinct
For a shop-built assembly, components and consumables are per unit and workholding setup is once per batch. A field job may add travel hours, mileage, mobilization, permits, access equipment, a helper and waiting time. The workbook includes travel and mobilization lines without asserting a standard fee. Put site preparation, power, hot-work arrangements and access responsibilities in the customer scope. Do not let a shop-hour calculation imply that these conditions have been inspected or included.
Issue the offer without exposing internal assumptions
The PDF prompts for included work, exclusions, delivery basis, payment, validity and buyer approval. Keep the internal workbook in the estimate file, then transfer only the approved commercial scope and prices. List coating, nondestructive testing, post-weld machining, engineering and installation separately when required. If the buyer supplies components, state the condition and dimensional basis the shop assumes before fit-up. A later drawing or weld requirement change needs a reviewed revision rather than a handwritten adjustment to the old total. Compare actual preparation and fit-up time with the workbook after the job.
