Paperless Parts vs Fulcrum: competitors or partners?

Paperless Parts and Fulcrum can be competitors at the quote screen and partners in the operating stack. Paperless Parts is an estimating and quoting platform that lists Fulcrum among its live ERP integrations. Fulcrum is a cloud manufacturing ERP with BOMs, routings, scheduling, inventory, quality and an open API. Paperless Parts does not publish a blanket price; Fulcrum says price depends on shop revenue and integration complexity, with unlimited users and a fixed launch fee. Pick based on whether the shop needs a quote front end or a production system.

The overlap is quoting; the boundary is production
Paperless Parts emphasizes 2D/3D intake, geometric attributes, nesting, configurable formulas and a shared RFQ workflow. Fulcrum describes quotes built from BOMs and routings, with costs updating from labor, material and machine details, plus Autoschedule lead times and a customer portal. A Fulcrum shop may therefore quote inside the ERP; a Paperless Parts shop may quote outside and send the accepted result into Fulcrum.
Use one 14-gauge bracket with a DXF nest, two bends, powder coat and quantities 1/10/100. Ask Paperless Parts to show the Fulcrum handoff and Fulcrum to show the same quote becoming a routing, material requirement and scheduled job.
| Question | Paperless Parts | Fulcrum |
|---|---|---|
| Price | No blanket price or price range; priced by modules, integrations, onboarding and contract length, not by seats | Not priced per user; price depends on the shop's gross revenue and the number and complexity of integrations; ask sales |
| Quoting | Shared RFQ, formula and geometric-attribute workflow. | Quotes built from imported or drawn BOMs and routings; costs update from labor, material and machine details |
| Nesting | Unfolds and nests multiple part files on the same sheets to calculate material and labor | Upload a DXF on a quote to generate a nest and update material and machine time |
| Production | ERP integrations carry accepted data onward. | BOM, routing, scheduling, inventory and quality in one ERP. |
| Integration | Live ERP integrations named: Epicor (10/11/Kinetic), ECI (E2 Shop, JobBOSS, JobBOSS², M1), Fulcrum, Global Shop Solutions, Infor VISUAL/SyteLine, ProShop, Made2Manage, MIE Trak Pro | Open API; Fulcrum says nearly all customers use it, usually with its launch team and developers; integrations are configured, not plug-and-play |
Pick Paperless Parts as the quoting front end
Paperless Parts is stronger when the shop wants a dedicated estimating team, large RFQ packages and a consistent customer quote while Fulcrum remains the production system. Its named live integrations include Fulcrum and several other ERPs. That makes the products partners when the mapping is real and the records are owned clearly. Ask which system owns the part revision, routing and material price after the handoff.
The platform cost includes implementation and integration decisions. A quote that simply exports a PDF is not the same as a synchronized ERP record.
Pick Fulcrum as the system of record
Fulcrum is stronger when the shop wants quoting, routing, scheduling, inventory, quality and customer order status in one cloud ERP. Its public page says pricing is not per user, and its launch model includes a fixed fee, data migration and training. That can be a better fit than maintaining two systems, especially when the estimator and planner need the same live costs.
QuotedPart is a third, narrower option for a shop that needs explicit rates without changing its ERP. It is weaker than both on production control and richer than a spreadsheet on quote arithmetic. Decide whether the partner boundary removes re-entry or merely moves it to another screen.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
