Paperless Parts and ProShop both cover estimating, but they answer different buying questions. Paperless Parts is a quoting and estimating platform that integrates with ERPs; ProShop is an ERP, MES and QMS whose quotes flow into jobs, quality records and shop-floor control. Paperless Parts does not publish a blanket price and says it is not priced by seats. ProShop also customizes pricing. Pick Paperless Parts when the ERP remains the system of record; pick ProShop when the shop wants one controlled record from estimate through inspection.

What the estimator experiences
Paperless Parts emphasizes 2D and 3D file viewing, geometric attributes, nesting and configurable formulas. Its value is a repeatable RFQ process that can send the result to an existing ERP. ProShop's estimating page emphasizes templates built from labor, material and vendor costs, margin guards and quantity breaks, then converting awarded quotes into customer purchase orders and work orders. Both can produce a defensible quote; the downstream record is the differentiator.
Use a test part with a material buy, outside anodize, two operations and quantities 1, 10 and 50. In Paperless Parts, ask where the quote's assumptions live after the ERP handoff. In ProShop, ask how the same assumptions become the routing, purchase requirement and inspection plan. A shorter quote screen is not automatically a better production record.
| Decision point | Paperless Parts | ProShop ERP |
|---|---|---|
| Price model | No blanket price or price range; priced by modules, integrations, onboarding and contract length, not by seats | Pricing customized per shop; standard and government options; request a proposal by form |
| Quoting depth | Detects 62+ geometric attributes in a 3D CAD model for pricing formulas | Template-driven quotes with the shop's labor, material and vendor costs, margin guards and quantity breaks; awarded quotes convert to customer POs and work orders |
| System scope | Estimating with API-based ERP, CRM and accounting integrations. | Modules include shop floor management and scheduling, calibration and maintenance, quality and inspection, inventory and material planning, and cutting tool and workholding management |
| Inputs | 2D and 3D CAD files and PDFs, viewed without native CAD software | Quote and production records in the ERP; confirm drawing/CAD intake in the demo. |
| Named integrations | Live ERP integrations named: Epicor (10/11/Kinetic), ECI (E2 Shop, JobBOSS, JobBOSS², M1), Fulcrum, Global Shop Solutions, Infor VISUAL/SyteLine, ProShop, Made2Manage, MIE Trak Pro | Sage 50, QuickBooks, Paperless Parts, Datanomix, Mastercam, Net-Inspect, High QA and GroundControl |
Pick Paperless Parts if
Choose Paperless Parts when the shop already trusts its ERP for inventory, scheduling, quality and accounting and wants a stronger front door for RFQs. Its integration list includes Epicor, ECI systems, Fulcrum, Global Shop Solutions, ProShop, MIE Trak Pro and others. That breadth is the advantage: estimators can standardize the quote without asking the whole shop to replace its operating system. The trade-off is integration mapping, contract negotiation and making sure every field the planner needs actually crosses the boundary.
Paperless Parts is also the clearer choice if multiple estimators need a shared quote queue while production remains in another application. Ask for a live handoff of a revision and an outside service, not just a PDF export.
Pick ProShop if
Choose ProShop when duplicated records are the problem. Its broader scope covers scheduling, shop-floor management, quality and inspection, inventory and material planning, calibration and maintenance. A quote can carry real job costs and quantity breaks into a controlled work order. ProShop is stronger than Paperless Parts for the shop that wants one owner for the production record and can fund an ERP implementation.
ProShop is the heavier decision. Request the implementation plan, data export terms and an example of a quote revision that changes a released job. If the immediate pain is only RFQ speed, a focused quoting layer may deliver value sooner. If the pain is losing the relationship between quote, routing and inspection, the ERP boundary is worth testing.
