What do machine shops actually say about ProShop ERP?

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

Public ProShop reviews are most useful when read as implementation evidence. The product is an ERP, MES and QMS for precision shops, so reviewers discuss shop-floor visibility, quality records and support as much as quoting. Positive reviews often value one controlled system; mixed reviews focus on the amount of setup, process discipline and the price of a broad deployment. ProShop says pricing is customized and every plan includes dedicated, continuous support. Ask a reference customer to show the records your shop would actually maintain.

The positive pattern

Review pages on G2 and Capterra describe value when a shop replaces disconnected spreadsheets and point tools with one record for estimates, jobs, scheduling, quality and inventory. ProShop's own module list supports that reading: it names shop-floor management, scheduling, inspection, calibration, maintenance, inventory and material planning. Reviewers who need traceability tend to value the visibility more than a quick quote screen.

Support is another positive theme in public reviews and the vendor's pricing page. That matters because an ERP implementation is a sequence of decisions about part revisions, routings, approvals and ownership. Ask whether the person praising support had a dedicated implementation team, what response target they received, and whether the support relationship continues after go-live.

  • Ask for a reference shop with similar lot sizes and quality requirements.
  • Request the reference's implementation timeline and internal hours, not only the go-live date.
  • Watch a quote become a routing, purchase requirement and inspection record.

The caution pattern

Mixed reviews tend to describe the work required to make a broad ERP useful. A shop must agree on master data, train estimators and operators, and keep the process current. That is not evidence that the software is poor; it is evidence that the software has a large boundary. A two-person shop that only needs faster RFQ arithmetic can experience that boundary as overhead, while an aerospace supplier may experience it as the control it was missing.

Price is similarly contextual. ProShop does not publish a blanket amount. Ask for license, implementation, integrations, training, renewal, data export and optional government or compliance paths in one proposal. A review that says “expensive” is not a usable budget until those rows are visible.

Read the reviews against your decision

A ProShop review is persuasive only if the reviewer has the same operating model. A high-mix aerospace shop with inspection records will care about a different failure mode than a prototype shop that wants a quote in ten minutes. Use public reviews to choose questions, then run a controlled demo with your customer, part, revision, outside service and inspection requirement.

ProShop is stronger than a focused quoting tool when one controlled production and quality record is the point. QuotedPart is stronger when the immediate decision is rate-based quoting with a short trial and no ERP replacement. The fair comparison is the cost of the record your shop needs, not the star count alone.

Sources and limits

Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
