ProShop vs Epicor Kinetic

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

ProShop and Epicor Kinetic are both much broader than a quoting tool. ProShop is marketed as an ERP/MES/QMS for precision machine shops, with estimating, quality, scheduling, inventory and inspection. Epicor Kinetic is a manufacturing ERP for discrete and make-to-order businesses with financials, production, supply chain, planning, scheduling and sales-management quoting. ProShop is the more shop-specific shortlist; Epicor is the broader platform. Pick by implementation ownership, not by feature-count comparison.

Compare the production record

ProShop's public estimating page links quotes to customer POs and work orders and names margin guards and quantity breaks based on actual job costs. Epicor's Sales Management page lists RFQ tracking, estimating, quotation management, order management and quantity/value discounts, while Kinetic's broader ERP covers production, supply chain and planning. Both can quote; the difference is the operating context around the quote.

Where ProShop is stronger

ProShop is stronger when the shop's language is routings, inspection, calibration, tooling, workholding and shop-floor control. Its precision-shop focus can reduce the translation a general ERP requires, especially for high-mix aerospace or defense work. The trade-off is a customized implementation and a broad change project. Ask for data export, phased rollout, support terms and a reference shop with similar quality requirements.

A small shop should not buy ProShop's scope for a quote-only bottleneck. Verify that the production and quality records are the reason to change.

Where Epicor Kinetic is stronger

Epicor is stronger when the operation needs a broad discrete-manufacturing platform, site-to-site visibility, supply chain and planning across plants or product lines. Its separate Configure Price Quote listing may matter to a configurable-product business. The public Kinetic page does not show a dollar list price, so price platform core, cloud package, concurrent users, implementation and integrations together.

QuotedPart is a third option for a shop that needs an editable quote layer without choosing either ERP. It is weaker on production, quality and multi-site control. Pick ProShop for precision-shop depth, Epicor for broad platform scale, and the focused layer for a smaller immediate problem.

Sources and limits

Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
