Epicor Kinetic vs Global Shop Solutions: compare the whole job

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

Epicor Kinetic and Global Shop Solutions both deserve an ERP evaluation when the requirement spans production and finance. Kinetic emphasizes manufacturing, supply-chain planning and site-to-site visibility; Global Shop Solutions emphasizes an integrated manufacturing suite with estimate/router and actual-cost connections. Neither is a simple substitute for a standalone quoting tool, and the public pages checked do not establish a blanket price winner. Use the same assembly, revision change and financial close to compare proposed configurations.

Where the public descriptions differ

Epicor's Kinetic page and Global Shop Solutions' home, estimating and BOM pages were checked October 30, 2026. Kinetic lists financials, supply chain, planning and production, and describes cloud-focused deployment with on-premises/hybrid flexibility. Global Shop Solutions documents scheduling, inventory, purchasing, financial functions, BOM import/export and actual-versus-estimated time by job sequence. Those descriptions are starting points for a demonstration, not a completed feature audit.

An assembly that crosses an organizational boundary

Build a fictional skid with a $600 fabricated frame, $900 purchased pump, $150 controls and four hours of final assembly at $80/hour. The direct planning cost is $1,970 before freight, testing, indirect costs or margin. Suppose a second site makes the frame. Ask where its material and labor are recorded, how the receiving site gets cost and revision, and how the customer order stays connected to the complete assembly.

Now the frame overruns by $120 and inbound freight adds $80. The revised direct cost is $2,170. An internal transfer price may be different from the group's actual manufacturing cost, so ask finance to explain which report shows each. These are comparison inputs, not evidence that either product implements your accounting policy automatically.

Change the revision after commitments exist

Revise the frame after the pump has been ordered and material issued. Inspect engineering changes, work instructions, purchase requirements, delivery dates and customer approval. Then partially ship the order and close the completed portion. A system should demonstrate the actual transactions your shop needs, including how people find the right document.

Global Shop Solutions' published BOM/router connections are a reason to inspect this chain in detail. Kinetic's site-to-site emphasis is a reason to test the multi-site requirement. Avoid translating either marketing description into an unsupported claim that the other product lacks a capability; score what each proposed setup demonstrates.

Make scope and implementation part of the choice

Compare migration, integrations, training, reporting and renewal terms in writing. If only quote preparation is slow, first audit the existing ERP's estimating process. QuotedPart can be relevant for interpreting PDFs and models, but it does not replace either ERP's finance or shop-control scope and needs a validated handoff to either. Keep the decision aligned with the operating problem the owner actually needs to solve.

Sources and limits

Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
