RealTrac is a broad shop-management system with quoting, routing, job costing, MRP, purchasing and inventory modules. Its public pricing page describes monthly no-contract SaaS, annual SaaS and a one-time purchase option, but publishes no dollar amounts. The best alternative depends on what you need to change: QuotedPart is smaller if quotes are slow; MRPeasy is more price-visible for lighter production; JobBOSS², Fulcrum and ProShop are broader ERP paths when scheduling, quality or traceability are the problem.

Keep the boundary you already trust
RealTrac's strength is continuity from quote to routing, job costing, purchasing and inventory. Before replacing it, identify whether the failure is an estimator's drawing intake or the production record after award. If the shop can schedule, purchase and close jobs reliably, adding a quoting layer may have less migration risk than moving the ERP. If the shop is manually reconciling material, job status and accounting, an ERP comparison is justified.
Use one RFQ with a revision, outside process and two quantity breaks. Ask each alternative to create the quote, routing, purchase requirement and job status, then export the customer and part record.
| Option | Price shape | Best when | Migration question |
|---|---|---|---|
| RealTrac | Module- and user-based packages, sold as monthly SaaS with no contract, annual SaaS, or a one-time software purchase with payment plans up to 12 months; no prices published | The current shop-management boundary works and only configuration needs attention. | Can the vendor fix the specific bottleneck without a reimplementation? |
| QuotedPart | $199/month per shop; 14-day no-card trial. | The problem is fast, explainable RFQ arithmetic. | Who owns the routing after the quote is won? |
| MRPeasy | $49–$149 per user/month; 15 + 15 day trial; no contracts. | Lighter MRP and inventory with visible pricing fit. | Does its quality and routing depth cover your work? |
| JobBOSS² | Tailored price; ECI describes roughly 3–6 months implementation. | A mature job-shop ERP is required. | What RealTrac records migrate? |
| ProShop | Customized ERP/MES/QMS pricing. | Traceability, quality and shop-floor control are central. | What implementation and data export are included? |
Why a focused layer may be enough
A quote-specific tool can remove the slowest step without moving customers, inventory or open jobs. QuotedPart lets the estimator set setup, cycle, material, finish and margin assumptions and export the accepted order. It is weaker than RealTrac on routing, MRP and purchasing, so the handoff must be explicit. A five-minute manual entry may be acceptable for ten wins a week; it is not acceptable for 100.
Measure the current handoff for two weeks before deciding. Use real minutes and the shop's burdened estimator rate, not a generic efficiency claim.
When a new ERP is warranted
Choose MRPeasy if transparent per-user pricing and lighter manufacturing records match the shop. Choose JobBOSS² if a job-shop ERP with established implementation support is the priority. Choose ProShop if quoting, shop-floor, quality and compliance-oriented records should live together. RealTrac may still win if its current modules fit and the migration cost would exceed the benefit.
The best alternative is the smallest complete system. Ask every vendor to show one revision from RFQ through shipment and to state how you leave with the data if the fit fails.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
