Is QuotedPart a good alternative to Spindlewise?

Compare QuotedPart with Spindlewise Pro if you need model measurement, drawing reading and online buyer acceptance. Spindlewise's US page lists Pro at $199 monthly for the team, the same published monthly amount as QuotedPart. Its $99 Shop tier and permanent Free plan serve smaller needs, and its 30-day no-card Pro trial is longer than QuotedPart's 14 days. The buying decision should turn on the intake, job feedback and handoff you actually use, rather than assuming the cheapest tier includes everything.

Give the free tier proper credit
Spindlewise's plan page lists one user and five monthly quotes on Free, with its cost engine, quantity breaks, frozen versions, data export and job-feedback functions. A sole owner sending only a handful of quotes may have a useful ongoing option there. Shop adds up to five users, unlimited quotes and a branded PDF. The Pro boundary matters when automated file intake and buyer-facing tools are the reason for changing systems.
QuotedPart uses one whole-shop plan with unlimited users. That avoids a seat boundary, but does not make it a cheaper purchase for every shop. At current US monthly prices, Spindlewise Shop is $1,188 over 12 months, while each $199 option is $2,388. Those figures assume monthly billing, unchanged rates and no tax; compare yearly terms separately if you intend to prepay.
| Task | Spindlewise evidence | What to evaluate |
|---|---|---|
| A few manual estimates | Free: one user, five quotes/month | Can you stay inside the volume? |
| Five-person shared quoting | Shop: US$99/month | Do you need Pro-only intake? |
| Models and buyer acceptance | Pro: US$199/month | Read a real permitted file and accept its quote |
| Accounting handoff | US page describes QuickBooks Online and Xero exports | Inspect the export and receiving record |
Use completed work to test the feedback loop
Take a fictional aluminum sensor bracket whose old estimate allowed 0.75 setup hour and six cycle minutes per part. At 40 pieces and an assumed $100 machine rate, that operation budgets $75 + 40 × $10 = $475. Suppose the completed job instead took 1.25 setup hours and 7.5 cycle minutes each. Actual machine cost on the same basis becomes $125 + $500 = $625, a $150 variance.
The useful feedback separates the extra $50 setup from the extra $100 running cost. Increasing every future price by one percentage would hide the cause. Ask the software to retain the estimate, log actual work and help the estimator explain the next quote. Spindlewise documents travelers, time logging and job-profitability feedback across its plans, which is a substantive reason to evaluate it even if the shop initially searches only for quoting software.
Evaluate equivalent input paths
Put the same unrestricted STEP model and PDF print into the evaluation. Include a tapped hole and a revision change, then check which details were measured, read or entered by the estimator. Spindlewise documents these file functions in Pro. QuotedPart supports STEP/IGES, DXF and PDF workflows with editable shop-rate operations. Compare the resulting assumptions, not just how quickly a price appears.
If the important handoff is accounting, examine Spindlewise's documented won-quote exports. Do not describe an export as a continuously synchronized accounting connection without verifying it. If the shop uses JobBOSS², QuotedPart's named handoff is another relevant test. Neither a CSV button nor an ERP logo establishes that every routing and quantity field reaches the right destination.
Budget the plan you will keep after the trial
Spindlewise's pricing page says a workspace can fall back to Free after trial while retaining quotes and settings. Its general pricing page may display Australian dollars, whereas the US page lists US dollar amounts. Keep the country and currency explicit when recording an offer; a number copied from the wrong regional page is not a meaningful price comparison.
No independent accuracy benchmark, full integration test or certification claim is established by this guide. Both products should be judged on a retained sample of your own allowed work. For a tiny quote volume, Spindlewise Free may be enough. For a busy team, test the paid workflows and pick the one that makes the estimator's corrections and the office handoff easiest to reproduce.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
