When is QuotedPart an alternative to Stella Source?

Your part priced in about 90 seconds, no account.

Choose the scope before comparing the price: QuotedPart addresses shop-rate estimating and sending quotes, while Stella Source packages metals pricing, quoting, ordering and payments. Stella's fabricator plans start at $500 a month plus transaction fees; the tier that adds Advanced Quoting starts at $1,000. QuotedPart's $199 shop subscription is worth evaluating for an internal estimating bottleneck. Stella has the stronger documented fit when the project is a customer-facing metals sales channel.

Follow a repeat buyer instead of a single estimate

Picture a hypothetical maintenance buyer ordering replacement steel guard panels every month. Sometimes it needs a custom cutout; sometimes it wants stock material and a repeat panel together. The estimator wants correct cut and bend allowances, but the sales project also involves customer-specific prices, repeat purchasing, payment and order status. Write those as separate acceptance requirements.

Stella's fabricator pricing page includes customer portals, payments, quoting and pricing management, an integration toolkit and sales insights in every plan. Its entry Fabricator bundle centers on Fabrication Sales; Fabricator+ adds Advanced Quoting, and Metals Premiere adds Stock Sales and Sales Assist. Those are meaningful distinctions. A starting price does not mean every quoting module is in the entry bundle.

Put transaction economics beside the subscription

The public page checked October 30, 2026 says every fabricator plan has unlimited users and transaction fees. It does not specify a numerical fee rate. Obtain the rate, its basis and any separate payment-processing costs in writing. In particular, ask whether the fee applies to all orders, online orders only, collected payments or some other defined amount.

For planning, suppose your shop expects $40,000 in eligible monthly sales. Each hypothetical 0.25 percentage point of transaction fee adds $100 a month, or $3,600 over three years. That is sensitivity arithmetic, not a Stella fee estimate. The subscription floors below assume unchanged rates; none is a complete implementation budget.

Test the exception that should stop an instant order

Use a fictional 0.125-inch steel guard with two bends and a powder-coat requirement. Then revise the drawing to add a weld nut close to a bend. Your evaluation should establish who approves that change, whether the revised geometry invalidates the previous price and how the buyer sees a new lead time. An attractive checkout is useful only when it respects the manufacturing exception.

QuotedPart lets an estimator review the route and send a branded quote the buyer accepts with a PO. Do not equate that with Stella's full metals commerce scope. Conversely, do not buy a broader online sales project if almost every incoming panel requires a conversation and manual engineering review. Estimate how much of your actual order book can follow the proposed path without intervention.

Ask for a scoped offer before assigning a winner

Request the exact modules, contract term, implementation work, supported customer files and ERP fields in the Stella offer. A toolkit is not proof that the connector you need is already configured. A free trial and review count were not established from the pricing page, so neither is used to score the product here.

Keep this decision separate from replacing a fabrication estimator alone. SecturaFAB's nesting and estimating requirements deserve their own test. If your sales staff needs a portal, payment flow and stock-plus-custom order process, Stella's broader offering may justify its cost. If the owner mostly needs to turn drawing RFQs into approved quotes, begin with that smaller workflow and measure the remaining manual steps.

Sources and limits

Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
