How do we source and label competitor prices?
By Touko Ursin, co-founder of QuotedPart
Every competitor price on this site is one of three kinds of evidence, and we never blend them into one number without saying so. A customer-reported quote is a price a vendor quoted a real shop that the shop told us directly; we have one, a North Carolina machine shop's Paperless Parts quote of $30,000 a year in 2026, and it is always labeled a single report. A vendor-published list price is copied from the vendor's own pricing page with the day we read it. A third-party estimate is someone else's number, such as Software Finder's estimate or a Reddit post, credited to them with its date. Where a vendor publishes nothing, we say so instead of filling the gap.

Customer-reported quotes
This is the strongest evidence and the rarest. It counts only when the shop that received the quote told us the figure itself and agreed to our using it. We name the state, never the shop. The one we hold: a North Carolina machine shop was quoted exactly $30,000 a year by Paperless Parts in 2026, told to us on 2026-11-04. That shop now uses QuotedPart, and you can't check the figure yourself. Read it as one shop's quote for its own scope, not a price list: Paperless Parts prices each shop by size, modules, integrations and term.
A quote passed to us second-hand, by a reseller, or without the shop's permission doesn't count. Neither does a figure we were asked not to publish.
| Vendor | Figure | Who reported it | Quoted | Reported to us | Label on our pages |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paperless Parts | $30,000 a year | The shop that received it (a North Carolina machine shop) | 2026 | 2026-11-04 | single report |
Vendor-published list prices
When a vendor prints its price, we copy the figure, the unit (per shop, per user, per quote, per credit) and the currency from its pricing page and record the day we read it. We don't convert euros to dollars, and we keep conditions such as minimum seats, annual billing or founding offers next to the figure, because they change what a shop actually pays. A list price is what the vendor asks before any discount; it isn't what a given shop ended up paying.
Vendors that publish no figure are listed as not published, with the page we checked, never with an estimate in their column.

Where the vendor publishes no price
Most ERP and enterprise quoting vendors price each shop after a demo. For these we state that the price isn't published and link the page that says so.

Third-party estimates and public reports
When a vendor publishes nothing, the next best figures are other people's, and we credit them by name. Software Finder estimates Paperless Parts "starts at $1,500/month", with one-time onboarding, configuration and training that add up to $10,000–$33,000 on its own ranges (read 2026-11-05); that is Software Finder's estimate, not a price from Paperless Parts. On Reddit r/smallbusiness, April 2025, an 8-person waterjet and laser shop reported a quote of $1,600 a month plus about $10,000 setup on a 3-year minimum (read 2026-09-22); it is one owner's post, so we label it a report. Vendr lists Paperless Parts' editions with no prices (read 2026-11-05).
Paperless Parts' own facts page says prices listed by third-party websites are not accurate. We show that statement next to these figures rather than leaving it out.
How the figures are combined
A range is drawn only across evidence about the same product. Our Paperless Parts range, $1,500 to $2,500 a month ($18,000 to $30,000 a year), runs from Software Finder's estimated starting point to the North Carolina quote, and each end keeps its own label wherever the range appears. We never present it as a list price and never average it into a single "typical" price.
First-year and multi-year totals are our arithmetic on those figures, with the inputs written out: no tax, renewal increases or staff time unless a row says so. The worked version for one vendor is the Paperless Parts cost breakdown, and published prices of quoting tools side by side are on quoting software pricing.
Dates, re-checks and corrections
Every vendor fact sits in one file per vendor with the URL it came from and the day it was read, and every page that shows the figure prints that date. When a page that shows a price changes, its figures are read again; when a vendor changes its pricing page, the old figure goes, not just the date. If you are a vendor and a figure here is wrong or out of date, send us the page that shows the current one; the facts page says how to reach us.
Sources and limits
Claims are dated where they can change. Product calculations are examples from the stated inputs, not a promise about a customer's quote. Competitor wording is attributed to the source shown.
