· ITAR

Connected inboxes keep ITAR customers' mail away from the AI

In a connected Gmail or Outlook inbox, mail from a customer you've marked as an ITAR customer now skips the AI's RFQ check, the same as mail carrying ITAR, EAR or CUI markings. The vault's “Seal every forwarded RFQ” setting now says which mail it covers: your RFQ address, emails dropped on a quote, and connected inboxes.

New public pages: QuotedPart facts and a CNC machining cost index

The facts page lists what QuotedPart does, what it costs, the ITAR vault and who makes it, each line linked to the page that states it, with a JSON copy. The CNC Machining Cost Index prices a basket of representative CNC, Swiss and sheet-metal parts at 1, 10, 100 and 1,000 pieces with our pricing engine at stated default rates, with a free CSV to hold against your own numbers.

· Fixed

Smaller fixes

Two things that could make a quote look wrong.

  • The total under the parts list now includes line and quote charges, so it matches the quote header, the PDF and the buyer's page.
  • On a phone, a reload before picked files are added now says so instead of leaving an empty quote.

· New

QuotedPart 2.0: a faster quote screen, and checks before you send

A rebuilt quote list and quote page around what a shop actually does with an RFQ: get to a price you trust, then send it.

  • Spreadsheet-fast edits: minutes, quantities, material price each and markup take one click each, and every number you changed is marked.
  • “Same as last time” repeats a part you've quoted before.
  • Checks run before a quote leaves your shop, on every PDF, email, “Open in my email” and export. You can still send anyway, and the quote log records who did.
  • The quote list and quote page work properly on a phone.
  • Tips come one card at a time, never in the middle of a task or in your first session.
  • A shop whose trial has ended can still open, download and export every quote.

Autonomous quoting →

· New

Connect Gmail or Outlook, and RFQs turn into quotes by themselves

Connect your shop's Gmail or Outlook (Microsoft 365) inbox and QuotedPart picks out the RFQs, reads the email, the models and the drawings, and has a priced draft quote waiting, usually within about 2 minutes. It reads only the inbox folder, can't send, delete or move mail, and never keeps the body or attachments of mail that isn't an RFQ. You still check and send every quote, as a reply in the buyer's thread.

RFQs by email →Email RFQ quoting →

· New

Material cost per quantity break

You buy stock cheaper at volume, and now the quote can show it. In the estimate grid choose “Price material by quantity” and type the material cost each at any quantity break; the other breaks keep their own cost. The PDF, buyer page, Excel and CSV carry the per-break prices, and one click puts a single price back on every quantity.

· New

Davenport and multi-spindle screw machine quoting

Shops that run Davenports or other cam-driven multi-spindle screw machines (Acme-Gridley, New Britain, Wickman) can add one under Settings → Processes. The cycle comes from the slowest station cutting at once plus the index, and cam layout, setup, secondary operations at volume, tumble deburr and first-article inspection are normal steps you can edit. Small round parts at high volume (1,000 pieces and up by default) route there automatically; shops without one see no change.

How to quote Davenport parts →Swiss and Davenport quoting software →

· Pricing

New pricing: $399 a month, and the first 20 shops pay $199

The normal price is now $399 a month for the whole shop, with unlimited users and quotes. The first 20 shops get the founding price of $199 a month and keep it while they stay subscribed. The 14-day free trial, with every feature and no card, is unchanged, and shops already subscribed keep the price they have.

· Fixed

Routing reuse and temper fixes

Two fixes that could move a price.

  • “Use last time's routing” now copies each of last time's steps once, in order. It used to copy one step onto every step on the same work center.
  • A temper in a material name, such as 6061-T6, is no longer read as a 6 mm thickness.

· Improved

A paired drawing updates the price by itself

When a drawing and its model meet on a line, in whichever order they arrive, the drawing sets material, finish, quantities and tolerances and the model gives the geometry, with no button to press. Drop a revised drawing and the line says what changed (for example Rev J → K and the new material), keeps your own edits and offers one Undo. Tight tolerances add an inspection step.

· Improved

Drawings find their models, even when the file names don't match

QuotedPart pairs a STEP file with its PDF drawing by revision, by the part named in the drawing's title, and, when the names have nothing in common, by having the AI compare the drawing with the measured models. It only moves a drawing when it is confident and the sizes agree; otherwise it asks on the line. It never merges away a line you declined or worked on.

· New

Quotes in your own Excel format

Upload your own .xlsx quote once, with tokens such as {{quote_number}} and {{line.qty}} typed into the cells. Every quote then downloads in that layout, one row per part and quantity, with numbers as numbers so your own formulas still calculate, and your logo, merged cells and other sheets kept.

· Improved

Better prices for sheet metal, structural shapes and weldments

Fab work priced the way a fab shop makes it.

  • Parts cut from angle, channel, beam or tube are priced as the section you buy, sawn to length, not as a solid block.
  • Bent or formed plate is priced as a flat blank plus its bends, at any thickness.
  • A DXF that is a whole drawing sheet is priced from its flat pattern, not its border, and takes its thickness from the gauge on the paired drawing.
  • Weldments are priced once, without counting member material twice.
  • Sheet parts with no named material start in your carbon sheet steel.
  • For new US shops, powder coat, wet paint, primer and zinc are priced by the part's surface area, so a small bracket no longer pays a big part's finish.
  • A bought-in casting or U-section is priced at your cost plus the machining on its drawing.

· ITAR

RFQ emails marked ITAR, EAR or CUI stay out of the AI in every shop

Until now only shops with the ITAR vault screened incoming RFQ email. Now every shop's RFQ address checks the subject, body, file names and attachments for ITAR, EAR and CUI markings. In a shop without the vault, a marked RFQ is never read by the AI and its files aren't stored: you get the usual new-RFQ notice with a note of who sent it and why it was held.

ITAR quoting and the vault →

· Improved

Quicker quote editing

Smaller changes that save clicks on every quote.

  • Move line items up and down so the quote follows the buyer's RFQ order.
  • Set quantities on one part and give them to every line in one click.
  • Photos of drawings are read like a PDF drawing, and a file that can't be read is named instead of skipped.
  • A drawing with several items puts each item on its own line.
  • Assembly components take the names the STEP file gives them.
  • On a phone, a drawing's missing size is asked for first, with an estimate you can take.
  • A material in your catalog with no price gets a warning, and quote lines show the material rate in effect.
  • A PDF that isn't a drawing goes to the quote's files instead of becoming a priced line.

· Improved

After the trial, you keep quoting

When a trial ends without a card, the shop keeps working: uploads, drawings, pricing, routings, rates and teammates all stay. A card is asked for only when you're about to send a quote to a buyer.

Pricing →

· Improved

More read off the drawing

The print's own callouts now decide more of the price.

  • A raw-stock callout on the print decides which bar or plate to buy, including metric round bar and structural sections.
  • Edge bevels on cut or milled plate get their own step.
  • A gusset is priced by the weight its drawing states.
  • Round plates held to .002 in are turned, whichever of the STEP and PDF arrives first.
  • A draft's quote link opens for the customer; when they open it the quote is marked sent, and “That was me” undoes it if it was you.

Week of October 26, 2026

· New

Send quotes from your own email

“Open in my email” downloads the quote PDF, marks the quote sent (with Undo) and opens a new message in Gmail, Outlook or your mail app with the buyer, subject and text filled in. Shops that send from their own mailbox keep doing that, and QuotedPart still knows the quote went out.

· Improved

Follow-up reminders at working hours

Reminder emails go out on weekdays between 8 am and 6 pm in your shop's time zone, greet you by name, and only say a quote is “not opened yet” when the buyer actually had the online link.

· Fixed

Uploading from a phone

Uploads from a phone no longer hang on “Adding parts”, picked files survive a reload, and one upload from the homepage makes one quote.

· Website

Free guides, calculators and templates

A library of quoting guides: cost guides priced by our pricing engine with the arithmetic shown, answers to questions small shops ask, calculators, printable templates, and comparisons of quoting software and ERPs with a dated source for every claim about another company.

Public API, webhooks and an RFQ form for your website

With the API, your website, customer portal or ERP can create quotes from STEP, IGES, DXF or PDF files and read the price per quantity, and a signed webhook tells it when a buyer accepts with a PO. A two-line embed puts an RFQ form on your own site, and RFQs land in your quotes. RFQ emails' order terms and pricing instructions are now read too.

API and webhooks →Website RFQ form →

· Improved

Setups you type twice become your default

Type the same setup time (within 5%) for an operation on parts in two different quotes, and new estimates start with your number. The newest habit wins, and a one-off doesn't override it.

· New

Tooled work: injection molding, stamping, casting and forging

An opt-in setting under Settings → Processes for shops that quote tooled, high-volume work. QuotedPart spots it from the material, the drawing and the RFQ, prices the tool and the piece, puts the tool build in the lead time, and machines castings and forgings from the drawing. Off by default; nothing changes for other shops.

Price parts from Claude or ChatGPT (MCP server)

QuotedPart runs an MCP server at quotedpart.com/mcp. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client, sign in with your QuotedPart account, attach a STEP file or drawing, and the assistant prices it in your shop at your rates. Every estimate is saved as a quote in your account.

· New

One-click quote PDF and email to the buyer

Download PDF makes the quote PDF in one click. Email to buyer sends it with the PDF attached under your shop's name, with the estimator copied and replies going straight to them.

· ITAR

ITAR vault: forwarded RFQs sealed on arrival

A vault shop's RFQ email can be sealed the moment it arrives: encrypted to the shop's own key before anything is stored, never sent to the AI, and opened only in a browser that has unlocked the vault. That covers mail to the vault RFQ address, mail from customers marked as ITAR customers, mail with export-control markings, or every forwarded RFQ if the owner chooses.

· New

Mold cores and cavities priced like a toolroom

A tool-steel mold or die component (H13, P20, S7, D2 and others) with a hardness, a polish or mold wording on the print or in the RFQ is priced with heat treat, hard finishing, polish and fits, from the model, the drawing and your rates, instead of as a plain milled block.

· Improved

The estimate tells you what to change

Shops kept trying things the estimate didn't do. Now each is a click.

  • “Match your usual price”: when QuotedPart is higher or lower than your number, one click sets that line's markup or prices that quantity at your number. Other lines never change.
  • A “Looks high” or “Looks low” warning lists what drives the price, each a link to the minutes or material row behind it.
  • After changing quantities on a part, owners can keep them as the shop's default quantity breaks.
  • Checks on a part are a checklist you can tick off, down to “All checked”.
  • “Too high” and “Too low” buttons by each price tell us where the estimate misses.
  • A sent quote always shows the price the buyer got, not one worked out again at today's rates.
  • On a phone the estimate shows one quantity at a time.

· New

QuotedPart learns from your edits

When your estimators keep retyping setup or run minutes on a work center, new estimates for your shop follow their numbers, starting from three different parts and within half to double the default. One shop's edits never reach another. Settings → Work centers shows what was learned, with an Off switch and Start over.

Learns from your quotes →

· Improved

Stock you can buy, the print's temper, and time for fins

Things a machinist sees at once on a quote.

  • A block is sawn from the next plate thickness you can actually buy, and a turned part from the next standard bar; material cost follows the stock you buy.
  • When the print says 6061-T651 and you stock it, the quote uses T651.
  • Thin fins and narrow slots get machining time.
  • Estimate lines add up to the cost to the cent.
  • Similar parts show how your jobs imported from the ERP actually ran.

· Website

Quoting software price survey and buyer's guide

A sourced price survey of 18 quoting and estimating tools for machine shops (entry price, billing unit, trial, setup fee, contract), with a CSV, and a buyer's guide to CNC quoting software. Every price comes with its source and the date we checked it.

· Fixed

Quote and order fixes

Fixes for things shops ran into on real quotes.

  • Dropping a drawing again on a line replaces the old one.
  • Deleting a quote deletes its order too.
  • Reopening a won quote clears the buyer's acceptance.
  • Quotes for PDF-only buyers send correctly from the send dialog.

Part history and job actuals on the quote

A parts library keeps every part you've quoted, and a repeat part shows what you quoted last time. Job actuals imported from your ERP show how the job really ran, right on the quote, with a suggested price you can take in one click.

Swiss-type lathe quoting, with hex and square bar

Small turned parts route to a Swiss-type lathe when your shop has one, and hex and square bar stock is read from the model and the drawing and carried through to the price.

Import your rates; review, no-bid and PDF-only buyers

Getting a shop's own numbers in, and quotes out the way it already works.

  • Import your rates, charges and finishes from CSV or Excel, with a review before anything changes.
  • Quotes can go through review and approval before they're sent.
  • Send a no-bid with its own message.
  • Buyers who want a PDF only get the PDF, with no link.
  • Named email templates for each kind of message.
  • Drawing reads keep their progress if you leave the page.

Export for JobBOSS (on-premise)

Classic, on-premise JobBOSS has no API, so Export for JobBOSS downloads a SQL script you run once in SQL Server Management Studio. It creates the JobBOSS quote with a line per part, a price per quantity break, the routing at your work centers and the material. It checks every code first, runs in one transaction, and can do a check-only run.

· New

Volume tiers for materials priced per piece

A material priced per piece can have quantity tiers (a price each from so many pieces up), and each quantity break on a quote picks its tier.

· New

Notifications, follow-ups and reports

Know when something happens on a quote, and see how your quoting is going.

  • An in-app bell and emails when an RFQ arrives, a buyer opens a quote, a PO comes in, or a quote is about to expire.
  • Follow-up reminders 3 and 7 days after sending, and an optional follow-up email to the buyer (off by default).
  • Won and lost reasons on quotes, and Reports with time to quote and win rate.
  • Sign in with a 6-digit code sent by email.

· New

Charges, notes, your own quantity breaks and DXF flat patterns

What a real quote needs beyond the part price.

  • Per-part and per-quote charges: NRE, tooling, first article inspection, certs, shipping and expedite.
  • Notes for the buyer and internal notes.
  • Your shop's own quantity breaks.
  • DXF flat patterns priced as sheet parts.
  • The drawing revision on everything the buyer sees.

· Improved

Big plates, rings and bent sheet priced like a shop makes them

A ring's center and the offcuts around a plate's profile drop out instead of being priced as chips, big parts get bigger tools and faster roughing, and bent sheet is bought as its flat blank. A model and drawing that share a part number now join on one line.

· ITAR

ITAR vault: AI reads vault drawings in your own AWS GovCloud

Vault parts no longer lose the AI. A shop owner adds an Amazon Bedrock key from the shop's own AWS GovCloud (US) account; the browser decrypts a vault drawing and sends it straight to Claude on Bedrock there. QuotedPart's servers never see the drawing, the read or the key, and AWS bills the shop directly.

Send quotes to JobBOSS²

On a quote, Send to JobBOSS² creates an estimate per part, with part number, revision, quantity breaks at QuotedPart's prices, lead time, routing at your mapped work centers, outside steps and material, and the quote for the JobBOSS² customer, through ECI's API. No retyping quotes into the ERP.

· ITAR

ITAR vault

An optional vault for quoting ITAR parts, off until an owner turns it on. Models, drawings and technical data are encrypted in the browser (AES-256-GCM) with a key only your team holds and priced in the browser, so QuotedPart stores only encrypted files it can't read.

Price a material per piece

In Settings → Materials any material can be priced per piece instead of per pound: bought blanks, cut-to-size stock, or customer-supplied material at $0. The quote shows the piece price on the material line.

Waterjet, exotic alloys and an export-control check

For shops that cut plate and machine oil-and-gas and aerospace alloys.

  • An abrasive waterjet work center and template, with cut speed and pierce time by plate thickness.
  • Inconel 625 and 718, Hastelloy C-276, Monel 400, duplex 2205 and 2507, Nitronic 60, 4130, 4340, 8620, aluminum bronze and more.
  • Before upload, the browser checks a PDF's and a STEP file's text for ITAR, EAR and CUI markings and asks before uploading a marked file.

· New

Warnings when a price looks off

When the price per pound is out of line for the part, or below your own hourly rate for its machine time, a warning beside the price says so with the numbers behind it; it never changes the price. Weldments, plate, volume milling, keyed shafts, ground pins and tiny lots also price closer to what shops charge.

· Improved

The estimate beside the drawing

On a wide screen the estimate scrolls on the left while the drawing or 3D model stays in view on the right. Material, each operation and finishes run down the side with a column per quantity, and anything you change is marked as yours.

· Fixed

Turned parts priced right; multi-part PDFs split into lines

Turned parts no longer come out two to five times high: stock length, bores and turning rates now follow how a lathe actually makes the part. A PDF with several parts becomes one quote line per part.

· New

RFQs by email, and hidden instructions ignored

Forward an RFQ email to your shop's QuotedPart address and it becomes a quote, with each model paired to its drawing, the dates and the customer. Text in an RFQ or drawing that tries to give the AI instructions is ignored and flagged to you.

QuotedPart launches

Self-serve quoting software for job shops. Drop a STEP model and/or a PDF drawing: QuotedPart measures the model in your browser, reads the drawing, suggests a routing on your work centers and prices every quantity break at your own rates, materials and markup. The buyer gets a quote page to pick a quantity and accept with a PO, and accepted quotes become orders.
